“Disappearing 9-Patch”
First, stitch together nine 4″ squares. For maximum contrast in this particular block, use five black prints and four red prints and arrange them so the black prints form the “X” of the 9-patch.
Square this block to 11″, then cut the block once vertically, then once horizontally. You will then have four 5 1/2″ blocks.
Rearrange the four 5 1/2″ blocks to form a new block design, then stitch them together.
