Main Street Quilt and Thread Guild

Our July 28th meeting will see us back at the Round Rock Public Library, 216 East Main Street, Round Rock, Texas, from 7 - 9. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., so come early and visit with your quilting friends!

On June 13, if you saw a blue Yukon speeding along the streets of Georgetown, Round Rock, and Austin with the sounds of laughter coming from the vehicle and quilt fabric hanging out of all the doors, that was some crazy quilters on a shopping mission!!! Members of the Main Street Quilt and Thread Guild spent the entire day “hopping” to all Austin area quilt fabric shops and what a wonderful day it was. Everyone agreed that it was so much fun we’re going to do it again next year. We hope there will be many more members who will join us in 2010 on this really great adventure!!

We travelled to a total of seven quilt shops: Honey Bee Quilt Store, The Quilt Store, and Ginger’s Needlearts in Austin; Austin Sewing Machines and MiniStitches in Round Rock; Poppy Quilt ‘N Sew in Georgetown; and Ready to Sew Bernina in Cedar Park. There were actually some individuals in our group who had never been to all of these great fabric stores before, so it was a real treat for them to find even more places to spend their quilting money!! Many thanks to all of the above stores for the warm welcome we received!! Some of these stores even had a busload of about 35 out-of-town “hoppers” come by earlier in the day so it was a wonder there was anything left for our group!!
